Wideband split-ring antenna arrays based on substrate integrated waveguide for Ka-band applications

Abstract This paper presents wideband split-ring antenna arrays based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) for Ka-band (26.5–40 GHz) applications. The array is fed by a 2.92 mm coaxial connector (K-connector) and the power equally distributed to each resonator. designed coplanar (CPW), SIW, CPW-to-SIW transition, coaxial-to-CPW two-stage SIW divider are described in detail. By using thin Rogers 6002 with silver epoxy-filled vias, transition prototype designed, fabricated, tested back-to-back configuration. A resonator developed as single element four possible arrangements of introduced. combining components routing paths, two full layouts resonators addressed. As demonstrator, 2×2 compact format tested. fabricated achieves measured directivity 15.0 dBi fractional bandwidth 23.0% centered at 30.5 GHz.
